The Allman Brothers Band - Still jamming!!!
I was checking out music on "ON DEMAND" on TV and saw the Allman Brothers, which was a show of their yearly tuneup in NYC. It is the lineup with Derek Trucks on guitar and Warren Haynes on guitar. Butch Trucks looked healthy wand was really into it. Bassist Oteil Burbridge sounded very well. They played for about 30 minutes, and it was a good representation of where they are at. Both guitarists played slide , on one song, which was an instrumental , the leads had a jazzy feel to them. I have put a youtube of the more original band for you to enjoy, you can always buy a disc of their latest music on their website store.

The Bartley Brothers "Hit The Road", RR set to release New CD
The Bartley Brothers “HIT THE ROAD”
Rural Rhythm Set to Release New Album August 24, 2010
Listen to a Clip of "Hit the Road"
Rural Rhythm Records is proud to announce the August 24, 2010 album release, “HIT THE ROAD” by Kentucky bluegrass music veterans, The Bartley Brothers. The first single is the title track from this exciting new album and is already out to bluegrass radio via the label’s “Fresh Cuts & Key Tracks” radio sampler. "HIT THE ROAD’ really showcases the bands tight Vocals, Rock Solid Instrumentation and song writing abilities and is sure to propel them to top of the charts," said Radio Host, Charlie Hall (WCYO FM).
Rick and Shayne Bartley have begun a new chapter in their careers and are now fronting their own band joined by Jayd Raines (formerly with Marty Raybon) and Josh Hymer (formerly with Ernie Thacker and Coal Town). The Bartley Brothers have developed a traditional sound that is radio friendly and will set them apart from other bluegrass groups by utilizing their beautifully blended brother harmonies. "There's nothing like sibling harmony, and Rick and Shayne Bartley have it in spades. Rick is a mighty talented singer/songwriter and the band they have assembled is top notch." - John Lawlass, The BluegrassBlog.
In addition to their powerful harmonies and masterful instrumental work on the album, Rick Bartley has pulled out all the stops to bring bluegrass fans 8 new original songs from home and real life which has been his songwriting trademark for years. Such songs as: “Blue Side of the Blueridge” which was the single and title track for Junior Sisk’s hit album and “I’M A HOBO” recorded on the recent J. D. Crowe & The New South album. Quality songwriting surely runs in the family. Lou Reid has recorded “My Whole Word in His Hands” (from his #1 album "TIME") and was co-written by Shayne Bartley.
Kevin Kerfoot, Publisher and Editor of BMP, has high marks for the new album saying, “Veteran bluegrass performers Rick and Shayne Bartley’s decision to hit the road as a duet is great news for lovers of original traditional bluegrass done right. The title track and first single of their debut CD is a catchy barn burner full of great banjo, mandolin and fiddle breaks. 'Loneliness Moved In' is another example showcasing their great brother harmonies and expert pickin’ and singin’. I’m looking forward to hearing much more bluegrass from The Bartley Brothers!”
“The Bartley Brothers are surely no strangers to the bluegrass world. With there joined talents this project is nothing less than I would expect” said fellow label-mate Rickey Wasson.
"HIT THE ROAD" is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Rural Rhythm, and other fine outlets.

"Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions" - New Marty Stuart
Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions
GRAMMY-winner and American music icon Marty Stuart is set to release a traditional country album GHOST TRAIN: THE STUDIO B SESSIONS on August 24, 2010. With his 14th studio album, Stuart steadily continues to lead the charge in preserving the roots, culture and history of traditional country music.
“What inspires me now, is traditional country music,” says Stuart. “It’s the music I most cherish, the culture in which I was raised. It’s the bedrock upon which the empire of country music is built, the empowering force that provides this genre with lasting credibility. It’s beyond trends and it’s timeless. With all that being said, I found traditional country music to be on the verge of extinction. It’s too precious to let slip away. I wanted to attempt to write a new chapter.”
This record will be released on August 24, 2010. Pre-order information will be available here within the coming weeks.

New Collector’s Edition of Craig Morgan’s CD features three new songs
LEBANON, Tenn. (July 26, 2010) The newest CD in Cracker Barrel Old Country Store’s exclusive music collection goes on sale today and that’s one reason why you might want to consider stopping in at one of the popular restaurant and retail concept’s 594 locations. The CD, That’s Why – Collector’s Edition features 13 songs, including the top radio hits “Bonfire” and “This Ain’t Nothin,” as well as two previously unreleased songs.
Craig Morgan is one of country music’s best-loved artists who made a name for himself with his signature hits “Almost Home,” which was named Music Row Song of the Year in 2003, and the chart-topping summer anthem "Redneck Yacht Club," and the #1 hit for 5 weeks "That's What I Love About Sunday."
Morgan says he is pleased to have his newest CD available exclusively at Cracker Barrel, where he stops in for chicken n’ dumplins (with extra dumplins!) frequently. “Cracker Barrel offers the closest thing to home cooking when I am on the road touring. Music is what I do, but country living is who I am, so it’s really nice to have them both come together with my CD at Cracker Barrel,” said Morgan. In commenting on the décor that Cracker Barrel is known for, Morgan added, “A visit to Cracker Barrel lets you get a look at Country America all under one roof.”
“That’s Why – Collector’s Edition is a remarkable CD and Cracker Barrel is glad to be featuring it as our newest music project,” says Peter Keiser, Vice President of Marketing. “Craig is a terrific performer. His ten years in the United States Army and his determination to return to the Nashville area, where he grew up, to develop his music career are admirable.”
Two of the 13 songs on That’s Why – Collector’s Edition have never been released until now: “You” and “Evel Knievel” Morgan says that “You” is about his wife and “Evel Knievel” is about himself, about living life on the edge a little bit. An additional song on this special collector’s edition is “Summer Sundown,” which Morgan says is a real-life song about the happiness to be found in our own backyards.
To celebrate the release of this exclusive CD, Cracker Barrel is holding a contest with a number of prizes, including a grand prize that features a four-day trip to Washington D.C., lunch with Craig Morgan on September 25th at an area Cracker Barrel, and tickets to his performance at the 2010 Great Frederick Fair that night. Complete contest details are available at crackerbarrelmusic.com.

"Still Learning" - Lonesome River Band - A Review
The LRB really has put out a winner of a CD with "Still Learning", from the stellar sound quality to the great singing and wonderful selection of songs. This is Bluegrass at it's best, with fast songs, great playing, great high lonesome harmonies. This could be the best Bluegrass CD this year. From the first song "Record Time Machine" I knew I was in for a real treat. Could it be? This band has been together almost 30 years, yet they sound so fresh.
Members are Sammy Shelor, Brandon Rickman, Andy Ball, Mike Hartgrove and Mike Anglin. What are the key words of this album? Musical , emotive and fun. If this recording doesn't put a song in your heart and a smile on your face, Then nothin' will. They get in some vocal grooves that are just wild, so pretty. Their last album, "No Turning Back" which was very good was in the #1 spot for Bluegrass Unlimited for three months. The single from that album "Them Blues" was #1 for two months. This CD should have about four singles at least. So many good songs here. Sammy Shelar's banjo is plain delightful. In 1991, this band had Dan Tyminski and Ronnie Bowman, plus founder Tim Austin who left the band to work on his recording studio.
My four favorites out of a CD without filler is hard to do. My favorite is a slow ballad "As Wild As I Get" , love the delivery and melody ,just a fun little ballad. "Record Time Machine" - Just something about this song that gets to me. "Jack Up The Jail" is a fast bluegrass kicker with great lyrics and pickin'. "40 Days" is a mid tempo gospel tune that moves really well.
This is simple, just buy it, you will not find not anyting better, great modern sounding recording, awesome collection of songs. These bluegrass bands just really do not get the due they deserve. Always on the road, in the studio, They do have a faithful following though.

"The Age Of Miracles" -Mary Chapin Carpenter- A Review
I have always liked MC Carpenter. This is kind of odd, but I saw her perform after Mindy Smith had opened up for her. Mindy had played a set of music similar to to this. Then Carpenter proceeded to give a greatest hits party with her music, (nothing wrong with that), but that night, just was not into it. I had been blown away by a mandolin player with a cute, thin, folky singer pouring her heart out for 45 minutes exactly.
Now, the shoe is on the other foot , Mindy is singing a more pop styled music, while Carpenter is playing a scaled back catalog of the best new songs she has ever done, I mean, really great stuff, but it lacks not for something that you can stomp your foot too, or a clever guitar riff that makes you smile inside. She's been thru the crucible and come out like a pearl, her songs touch you, in lots of ways, I'm surprised and happy too, cause I needed something like this, but I was not looking here. Great CD.

Bellamy Brothers Spice Things Up with New Video on Youtube
BELLAMY BROTHERS SPICE THINGS UP WITH NEW VIDEO
NASHVILLE, TN - July 20, 2010 - The old saying “life is like a bowl of cherries” is one phrase that David and Howard Bellamy of the Bellamy Brothers certainly disagree with… at least, in today’s day and age. In fact, the brothers believe that life nowadays is much more comparable to a bowl of jalapenos.
Last month via YouTube, the country music legends debuted their new controversial video, ‘Jalapenos’ and have since racked up over 400,000 hits... all with virtually zero promotion.
“We’re really pleased at the reaction to our new video, ‘Jalapenos,’” raves David Bellamy. “Seems like we’ve successfully offended the people we are trying to offend!”
The Bellamy Brothers take a ‘no holds barred’ approach throughout the video, taking aim at politicians, celebrities, and yes, even the little blue pill known as Viagra.
Watch 'Jalapenos' HERE.

“THAT’S WHY!”
New Collector’s Edition of country star’s CD features three new songs
LEBANON, Tenn. (July 16, 2010) When guests ask “why,” Cracker Barrel Old Country Store will soon be able to answer “That’s Why.” The popular restaurant and retail company is gearing up for the latest release in its exclusive music program: country music star Craig Morgan’s That’s Why – Collector’s Edition. This CD features 13 songs, including the top radio hits “Bonfire” and “This Ain’t Nothin,” as well as two previously unreleased songs.
Pictured (from L-R): Faith Quesenberry (Vector Management), Craig Morgan, Peter Keiser (Cracker Barrel, VP Mktg.), Julie Craig (Cracker Barrel, Mktg. Mgr)
Craig Morgan is one of country music’s best-loved artists who made a name for himself with his signature hits “Almost Home,” which was named Music Row Song of the Year in 2003, and the chart-topping summer anthems "Redneck Yacht Club," and "That's What I Love About Sunday."
Complete contest details will be available at crackerbarrel.com on July 19th.
Cracker Barrel’s exclusive music program features numerous projects. In May of this year, Cracker Barrel released Wynonna’s Love Heals, which debuted at #7 on the Billboard Magazine Top Country Albums chart. The Lonesome River Band - "Still Learning" - New Album on Rural Rhythm Records
The Lonesome River Band - "STILL LEARNING"
New Album Released Today on Rural Rhythm Records
Rural Rhythm Records is very proud to announce today’s new release, “STILL LEARNING” by the Lonesome River Band. This super group is lead by the award-winning banjoist Sammy Shelor who is joined by: Brandon Rickman (guitar, lead vocals), Andy Ball (mandolin, lead vocals), Mike Hartgrove (fiddle) and Mike Anglin (bass, vocals). Rickman explains the meaning behind his original song, “I’m Still Learning” that was of course the inspiration for the title. “We all thought that this song really describes LRB today. Learning something new every day and seeing things a whole new way has been the creative path and our attitude ever since the five of us got together.”
The Lonesome River Band was back on top with their last album, “NO TURNING BACK” reaching #1 on numerous charts including staying #1 on the Bluegrass Unlimited Top 15 Album Chart for 3 months in a row. The album included two chart singles, “Them Blues,” (the #1 song for 2 months in a row), plus the hit, “Like a Train Needs a Track.” “STILL LEARNING” certainly picks up where “NO TURNING BACK” left off. The first single, “Record Time Machine,” written by Marvin E. Clark (who also co-wrote “Like a Train Needs a Track") has received rave reviews from key radio hosts including:
“Man, I love it!! It’s a HIT!!” – Kyle Cantrell, Sirius-XM Radio “Bluegrass Junction”
“FABULOUS! That’s a winner!!” – Terry Herd, Bluegrass Radio Network “Into the Blue”
"STILL LEARNING" is available at all fine outlets including iTunes, Amazon, Barnes and Nobel and many more.
Next year the Lonesome River Band will celebrate their 30th Anniversary and these band members are certainly carrying on tradition with “STILL LEARNING.” Their new single and album will surely dominate the bluegrass charts again and we are still learning how high the ceiling is for this top group.
The Lonesome River Band can also be heard on the upcoming new album, "GRAVES MOUNTAIN – LIVE" recorded live last month at the Graves Mountain Festival of Music in Syria, Virginia celebrating Rural Rhythm Records 55th Anniversary.

OAK RIDGE BOYS TOP AOL MUSIC’S “TOP 10 CATCHY SONGS IN COUNTRY”
Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., and George Jones among others in the Top 10
Nashville, TN – In the July 9th feature on AOL Music’s “The Boot” http://www.theboot.com/2010/07/09/catchy-songs/, The Oak Ridge Boys take home the honor of having the catchiest song in country music. The Catch: "Elvira, Elvira/My Heart's on fire, Elvira/Giddy up, oom-poppa-oom-poppa-mow-mow".
“When I opened up my AOL account, one of the headline stories for the day was about the 10 catchiest songs in country music history, I followed the link and started to read the top 10. I started at 10 and wondered what would be next as I scrolled down the page. I was thinking that we would not have a song on there, then at #1 was our huge hit Elvira. You could hear me screaming all the way from Oklahoma. Thanks to Dallas Frazier for writing such a song that bought us all a new house, and a new car,” says Oaks lead singer Duane Allen.
The Top 10 Catchy Songs in Country: (according to AOL “The Boot”)
1. Elvira / The Oak Ridge Boys
2. The Gambler / Kenny Rogers
3. You Belong With Me / Taylor Swift
4. Family Tradition / Hank Williams Jr.
5. Achy Breaky Heart / Billy Ray Cyrus
6. It’s Finally Friday / George Jones
7. Man! I Feel Like A Woman / Shania Twain
8. Dang Me / Roger Miller
9. How Do You Like Me Know? / Toby Keith
10. Undo It / Carrie Underwood
About The Oak Ridge Boys

Their string of hits includes the pop chart-topper Elvira, as well as Bobbie Sue, Dream On, Thank God For Kids, American Made, I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes, Fancy Free, Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight and many others. They've scored 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album, plus one double platinum single, and had more than a dozen national Number One singles and over 30 Top Ten hits.
The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of the Oak Ridge Boys have earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. The Oak Ridge Boys continue to tour extensively, performing over 160 concerts each year. Every time they step before an audience, the Oaks bring three decades of charted singles to bear on a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere.

"Down Home" - Josh Williams - A Review
Josh Williams is a former guitarist for the Rage, Rhonda Vincents group. I just reviewed another CD recently for another former Rager, Audie Blaylock. She must produce good musicians, because they are both very good CDs. The title Down Home is a good description of the CD. It is very down homey with sweet bluegrass instruments and songs about family and life.
Josh is a very good guitarist and plays almost all guitar here, both rhythm and lead. His leads really are very good and melodic, His mentor Tony Rice plays on one song "Blue Railroad Train". Josh does not write any of the songs , but he uses first class material, mostly great story songs . The Title track is a beautiful ballad. The music is so sweet backing up his vocals.
Some of the musicians that Williams uses are Mickey Harris on Bass, Randy Kohrs on Dobro, Jason Carter and others on fiddle.
Rhonda Vincent sings backup on a couple of songs. Aaron Mcdaris plays banjo, Stuart Duncan does some of the fiddle. Tony Creasman does percussion. These songs plain move or they will move you, like a good bluegrass ballad. Some of the songs have a pedal steel on them. Josh has a very good voice and knows how to take hold of a song. "Streets Of Bakersfield" is an upbeat bluegrass song that the musicians really take it up a notch. "Dream Of Me" is a ballad that has some good hooks and a really nice chorus with great harmonies.
"We'll Burn That Bridge" is an upbeat song with more good singing and playing. I am really surprised at the good collection of songs that Williams has found for this project. And his musicians are really good, he uses 2 or 3 banjo players, so you get some great banjo, but some different styles too. "Blue Water' is another killer ballad, that really makes you listen. Josh has a great career as a solo musician with a CD like this. And that is saying alot with all of the talent out there in the bluegrass market. I hear that he is working on a new Cd for later this year. If you like good bluegrass with a modern touch, just in the recording and production, otherwise, the material is pretty traditional, you should love this.

About The Judds
Kentucky natives, The Judds, are one of the most successful country music duos of all time – amassing fourteen number-one hits and over 60 industry awards including multiple CMA, ACM and GRAMMY awards. After launching their career with RCA Records in 1984, The Judds sold 20 million albums in just 6 short years. By 1989, The Judds were one of the top-grossing and most popular touring acts in America. But at the height of their career, Naomi Judd announced she would have to retire from the music business due to health complications. To say goodbye to their fans, they launched the 116-city Judds Farewell Tour selling more concert tickets than anyone that year with the exception of The Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones. Nearly ten years after her health turned around, the pair reunited on Dec. 31, 1999 for a New Year’s gala performance, and a reunion tour in 2000. They came together again at last year’s 2009 CMA Music Festival and captivated the massive audience with their homespun, acoustic harmonies that felt as revelatory as they did when they first shot onto the country music scene 26 years ago. Encouraged by that performance and driven by the fans, the duo decided to tour one last time for 2010’s The Judds: The Last Encore.

The Grascals Keep Their Cool; Shoot Video for "Last Train To Clarksville" During Epic Heat Wave
Grascals set to appear on RFD-TV's Larry's Country Diner this weekend
Nashville, TN (July 7, 2010) -- The Grascals kept their cool as a 100-plus degree heat wave hovered over the mid-state during an all-day video shoot for their current country and bluegrass radio single, "Last Train To Clarksville." Directed by Marcel Chagnon (Clay Walker's "She Won't Be Lonely Long"), the piece was filmed at several locations, including Cummins Station/The Gulch, Lower Broadway and at Franklin, Tennessee's Riverstone Farm.

A bright orange 1966 Dodge van co-stars with the band and is featured throughout the video. Quick close-ups of each Grascal, mixed with fast-frame action, keep the tempo pumping. Director Marcel's choice of the 12 frames-per-second shooting technique gives the clip an intentional, stop-motion feel reminiscent of 1960s and '70s home movies. The video gives a strong, original "shout-out" to The Monkees and their 1966 #1 hit with "Last Train."

The single, the first release from their newest CD, THE FAMOUS LEFTY FLYNN'S, has just shipped to country radio, but is already a proven hit on the bluegrass charts. "Last Train To Clarksville" currently holds the #2 spot on the Bluegrass Music Profiles July Chart and is #20, on the July Bluegrass Unlimited Chart. THE FAMOUS LEFTY FLYNN'S is currently #3 on the BILLBOARD Top Bluegrass Albums Chart, # 2 on the Bluegrass Unlimited Chart and #1 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 National Bluegrass CD Chart.

July 6, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) Rural Rhythm Records is very proud to announce they have signed RODNEY DILLARD & The Dillard Band to the label and will release the group’s new album, “I WISH LIFE WAS LIKE MAYBERRY” on September 14, 2010.
RODNEY DILLARD is a founding member of the legendary group THE DILLARDS, and beloved member of the most often seen Bluegrass group in the world, THE DARLINGS. His long and illustrious career has resulted in two GRAMMY® Nominations, induction into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, a well-known acting stint on The Andy Griffith Show, and worldwide acclaim for over 50 years of recording both traditional bluegrass and his own brand of “DillardGrass”.
In 1962, THE DILLARDS, who had a new recording contract with Elektra Records, were asked by the producers of The Andy Griffith Show to play a bluegrass-playing family (The Darlings), whose patriarch was to be played by popular Hollywood actor Denver Pyle… and to this day THE DILLARDS are seen nearly every day somewhere in the world thanks to the still enormous popularity of The Andy Griffith Show re-runs. October 2010 is the 50th Anniversary of the first airing of this popular show.
Rodney Dillard wrote and collaborated with others to write such classic songs as “There Is A Time”, “The Darlin’ Boys”, “Ebo Walker”, and “Dooley.” These songs, plus more DILLARD and MAYBERRY classics, can be found on their upcoming album.
“I WISH LIFE WAS LIKE MAYBERRY" contains all the Darlings / Dillards classics performed here by RODNEY DILLARD & The Dillard Band including the first radio single release, “There Is A Time.” The song will be released to both bluegrass and country radio stations on July 19th via Rural Rhythm Record’s Fresh Cuts & Key Tracks CD and also available at www.AirplayDirect.com at that time.
In addition to all the classics, there are four new original songs written by RODNEY DILLARD and friends of Rodney including: “There Goes The Neighborhood”, “Wicker Rocking Chair”, “The Mayberry Hat” and “The Andy Griffith Show”.
As a BONUS, the album will also contain five episodes from the popular radio show “Mayberry Minute” – a show that ran nationally for 3 years and was narrated by RODNEY DILLARD.
RODNEY DILLARD & THE DILLARD BAND have been chosen as an official International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Showcase performer at this year’s IBMA World of Bluegrass held in Nashville, TN this coming October. "Tears ,Lies and Alibis" - Shelby Lynne - A Review
This is a bit of a new sound for Shelby and she produced it, sounds a bit like "Identity Crisis" ,which she also recorded partly.
She wrote all ten songs here and there is a variety of acoustic ,jazz like, with some interesting lyrics and melodies.
This CD has areal mellow vibe to it. "Old Dog" - She sings this with some sarcastic lyrics. She plays some sweet syncopated rhytmn guitar.
"Alibi" is a different type of Cheating song, about a guy and his Alibi. "Home Sweet Home" is a very good acoustic song, with a real sweet sound, thanks Doug Sax and mastering lab. "Home sweet Home" has mostly just her on it.
"Why Didn't you call me?" This is a very good jazzy sounding tune, with some horns. This was engineered by Brian Harrison and she helped. "Something To Be Said About Airstreams" - I love this song, she really has good lyrics in this recording. Just a real audiophile sound and a song that has a great groove.
"Rains Came" has the most electric guitar on it, yet nothing loud, just some quiet licks, This was mastered by Doug SaX and his assistant @ The Mastering Lab,
